INTO ETERNITY Mainman Checks In From The Road
April 17, 2008Founding guitarist/principal songwriter Tim Roth of Canadian extreme progressive metallers INTO ETERNITY has issued the following update:
"We are almost halfway done our USA tour with SYMPHONY X and EPICA. This has been another very successful tour again for us! Every crowd is absolutely insane and a lot of the crowds have been chanting for an encore from us....ha. The band has been going on very early at most venues, so usually we are onstage at 6.30pm or 7pm.
"Today we are in amazing Seattle. The crowds here always rule and it is an amazing city by the water.
"Today I got [Michael] Romeo [SYMPHONY X guitarist] to teach me a few tricks. That guy is the next level type of shred player and he is a super-nice guy.
"The new SYMPHONY X is an amazing record.
"Everybody on this tour has been really cool, from the all the crew to all of the musicians.
"After this tour ends we get to do a one-off show with CHILDREN OF BODOM. It will be a special show with just the two bands. I have always wanted to play with them and hopefully I'll be able to learn a few new guitar tricks as well! We are also excitied about our Japan dates that we have coming up. It's going to be a killer year of supporting 'The Incurable Tragedy'."
INTO ETERNITY has set "The Incurable Tragedy" as the title of its new album, due later in the year via Century Media Records. The band's first concept album, "The Incurable Tragedy" was inspired by the deaths of Roth's two best friends, brothers who succumbed to cancer within two months of one another. To make matters worse, when the band began demoing new material shortly after the completion of the "Scattering" tour a star-making year of shows that saw the band perform alongside such internationally renowned acts as DREAM THEATER, LAMB OF GOD, MEGADETH, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY, THE HAUNTED and DARK TRANQUILLITYRoth's father was diagnosed with cancer as well. Showing no mercy, the disease claimed his life last year, just 10 days before Christmas.
To tide fans over until the release of "The Incurable Tragedy", the band has posted on its MySpace an unmastered rough mix of a brand new song, "Diagnosis Terminal", which it will perform live at each of their spring concerts. The track is classic INTO ETERNITY, featuring a heavy groove, stop-on-a-dime time changes, reflective lyrics, a memorable chorus, a string-shredding solo, and vocals that range from guttural growls to soaring harmonies.
